Music Statement of INTENTWhy do we teach this? Why do we teach it in the way we do? At Spire Infant School we value Music as an important part of the children’s entitlement to a broad and balanced curriculum. Music is a language that can be accessed by almost everyone. It can be used through all areas of learning, offering the opportunity to experience, create and share ideas. Music, song and dance can stimulate parts of the brain responsible for language development, maths, logic and spatial awareness, creativity, self- expression and research shows how it can sustain and support well-being. Children listen with concentration and understanding to a range of high-quality live and recorded music. We encourage children to understand the value and importance of music in the wider community, and to use their musical skills, knowledge, and experiences to involve themselves in music, in a variety of different contexts.
