Summer 6 Newsletter Starfish Class
We hope that you have all had a well-deserved break. Welcome back to what will be the final half-term for your children at Spire Infants. It’s going to be a busy one!
First of all we want to say a huge WELL DONE to the children for the way they conducted themselves during the end of Key Stage tests last month. We could not be prouder of their hard work and excellent attitudes to learning. Thank you for your support in the run up to and during the tests.
Our topic this term is ‘Australia’. We will be reading and writing about the history and culture of the country as well as finding out about the animals that live there. We’ll be creating Aboriginal art and craft and making 3d models of some famous Australian landmarks. We also have our trip to Doncaster Wildlife Park to look forward to and the children will decide what activity they would like to spend their Enterprise money on. In maths, we’ll be returning to division, geometry, money and statistics.
The children will also be very busy preparing for Sports Day and their Spire’s Got Talent performance. You are in for a treat!
Homework, reading and spellings Thank you very much for supporting your child with homework, reading and spellings. Last term, there were still only a small amount of children who completed their homework each week. It will help your child to get into the habit of returning homework promptly and regularly as this is an important expectation at juniors.
Intervention groups Morning intervention groups will continue as before. Please make sure that your child arrives promptly so that they get the most out of these sessions.
Transition sessions The children will spend several transition sessions at the junior school during June and July to help them to get to know their new school and teachers. More information to follow…
Goodbye and good luck As this is our last newsletter, we would like to take the opportunity to say that it has been a pleasure to teach your children. We wish them lots of luck in their new schools and hope that they will take away many happy memories of their time at Spire Infants.
