Rainbow Fish Class, Mrs McCarron, Mrs Holmes and Miss Storer

Welcome to the new school Year. This Autumn out topic will be ‘Aliens Vs Humans. We will be learning all about the body and the senses and learning about humans through the eyes of aliens! Children will be working hard as they transition from play based learning to a more structured environment. In literacy, children will be starting new ‘Big Write’ every other week where they will create an extended piece of writing, please come and see their writing displayed in class.

Each week we will be checking whether children have read at home 3 times. This will be checked on a Friday and the children will be rewarded with a sticker. We are keeping a record of this and at the end of the term these children will receive a prize if they have managed it every week.

In school we teach the children the skills that they need to read. In order for them to progress and become fluent readers, it is essential that they get the opportunity to practise, so please keep practising at home.

This term we will give the children 1 ongoing homework project with easy, family centred activities to complete. In addition to this the children will have a reading book and one book from the library. The children will receive spellings to complete each Friday and they will be tested the following Friday so please do keep the sheet and practise all week. If I feel that your child needs a little extra help with any lesson I may send home supplementary homework.

We continue to read with the children throughout the week and letters and homework can be given on any day so please bring the book bag each day.  Please make a note that Wednesday and Thursday we have PE, please bring a PE bag! Wednesday is our library day, please go straight to the library, not the class on Wednesday morning. On Friday I will give out a spelling sheet, children will be tested the following Friday.

Many thanks for your continued support, please feel free to speak to me any morning.
