Other Information
Our PE day is Monday, please ensure that your child brings their book bag, water bottle and PE kit to school every day. Please ensure that any clothes your child brings to school are clearly labelled so we can ensure they go home with the correct child. Children are encouraged to play outside in all weathers, please send your child with a pair of wellies to be kept at school.

Observations at home
In reception we take observations of children throughout the year. These will be emailed home to you at the end of each half term via the email address you have provided in your starter pack. We are always interested in finding out about milestones your children have achieved outside of school. You can reply to this email and attach notes or photos to let us know the exciting things your children are learning at home. For example; if they dress themselves independently for the first time or if they demonstrate sharing and taking turns.

Morning work
Morning work happens at the start of every day from 8:45-9.00. This is a good opportunity to settle the children and for you to be involved in the school day. Morning work may include activities such as handwriting, reading and recording family news.

Reading
From Monday 11th September your child will be given a reading book and a reading diary. Your children will be assessed by their class teacher and given an appropriate book. We encourage you to hear your child read at least three times each week and we will monitor this every Friday during Library morning. In school we teach children to read using phonics which will begin in week 3. We will be holding a phonics workshop for parents and careers to attend on Wednesday 27th September at 9.00am in the school hall.

We are very excited for the year ahead and look forward to seeing your children grow and develop. If you have any questions or you are worried please do not hesitate to ask any of the reception team.

Thank you for or your support, The Reception Team.
