Not long until ‘Big School’
As children are getting ready for Reception you can support their readiness by encouraging your children to;
Be toilet trained.
Be independent dressing and undressing.
Hold pencils with an efficient grip using first two fingers and their thumb near the end point. Please see Miss Mellors if your child still needs additional support with this.
Be able to say numbers in sequence to 10.
Begin to recognise and name 2d shapes.
In school we use Jolly Phonics to support phonic knowledge, please see the below site for some game, songs and rhymes to support your child’s learning
Nursery Trip – Sarah and Duck
Our Nursery trip is on Wednesday 5th July meeting at the Pomegranate Theatre at 1:30pm, children whose parents are not accompanying them will need to be collected from here at 3:20pm.
Children whose Parents have paid for wrap around care will be taken to the Theatre and back to After school club by members of the Nursery Team.
When the weather is warm we will be selling ice-pops at the end of the Nursery session for 20p to raise money for our Nursery Enterprise fund which helps us to buy new resources for your children.
We will be selling special key ring photographs of children who have finished their learning journey in nursery and transferring to Reception class for £1.50 (again money will be used for our Enterprise Fund).
We are sorry to see Mrs Aitken leave Nursery but you and your children will be very lucky to have her as a Key Worker in Reception class. This will be a great support to children who are transferring to their next phase of learning there. We will miss her!!
Keep an eye on our ‘lovely’ British weather and ensure that your child has sun cream and sun hat for Nursery (we do have some hats available to borrow but we are not allowed to apply sun cream on children).
We have a limited number of pairs of wellies for children to borrow. If your child has an old pair they have grown out of these would be gratefully received for others at Nursery to borrow.
You are always welcome to Stay and Play!
We would like to politely remind parents to pay snack/ baking money (£1.50) at the start of each term to enable us to plan and buy snack and baking ingredients.
